Tuesday Night Speakeasy

A speakeasy, also called a blind pig or blind tiger, was an establishment that illegally sold alcoholic beverages during the period known as Prohibition (1920–1933, longer in some states).

To honour the brave and reckless souls who braved the prohibition, this weekly event held in Wellington is dedicated to having fun in the old fashion. Join us for music and dance every Tuesday and be sure to have a hell of a knees-up.

Location

You can find the speakeasy at the following locality

Bar Bodega
Ghuznee St
Wellington

Opening hours

The establishment will only be open for entry between the following hours:

7pm - 10pm

All patrons must be off the premises at 10pm, or when the men in blue shake us down.

Price of admission

To cover costs involved in arranging the event every week we really appreciate your donation or koha of $2 — $5.

Any funds provided are only used for organising this and other events.

Grog

Bar Bodega are running interference with the coppers and have really stretched their necks out for us, at no cost.

As they are really propping us up week to week, to show our appreciation you are required to support the venue by purchasing something to whet your whistle!

Dress Code

Any attempts to step out in fashion are much appreciated and heartily encouraged.

A minimum standard of dress is required at all times, this includes respectable shoes, and even a hat.

We understand that it is a Tuesday and your maid may not have been able to complete the laundry but we trust you can stretch to our standards, even in times such as these.
